Finances

Financial reports are presented to members at each meeting.

Recurring expenses include:

  • Mowing the park, paid to the mowing contractor. This typically costs around $1,000/year for local mowers.
  • Property insurance, paid to Erie Insurance. This is on the order of $600/year.
  • Electricity to power the lights at the pavilion, paid to Met Ed. This is on the order of $350/year.
  • Repairs to the playground equipment and the pavilion, and managing trees and bushes. Typically $200-300/year.

Therefore, baseline activities cost on the order of $2,000/year. However, BHCA may also pay for yard sale advertisements, treats and decorations for the Easter egg hunt and Halloween Party, and meat and beverages for the fall picnic. This typically amounts to several hundred dollars a year.

In terms of income, dues are set at just $30/year per household. Of 102 homes in the development, only 50-60 pay dues in a given year. BHCA also receives donations of time, money, and materials. These donations vary from year to year.
